## The challenge

The starting point

Planning activities for technicians in the field or for on-site teams is much more than assigning a name to a date on a spreadsheet. When human resources and equipment (company vehicles, special tools) are spread across dozens of projects at the same time, the lack of a centralized tool creates clear operational bottlenecks.

## The problem we found

Our client needed to develop the frontend for a platform able not only to show who does what, but to manage work orders by balancing shifts with _people's well-being_ and giving managers a clear view of future production capacity.

An extended time-based visualization interface (built on the capabilities of Kendo UI and React) that visually maps the current resource/project match. This layer lets dispatch management immediately identify operational gaps, erroneous shift overlaps and the availability of vans or specialists, turning tasks from backlog into truly live operations.

Fleet and resource management

Extended modules for the native administration of technician profiles (licenses, route and vehicle preferences, personal data, ...) and of the vehicle fleet (plates, required license, presence of a trailer, ...). The shared cloud registry ensures that, in the assignment workflow, the perfect driver/technician routing is achieved to cut down tasks stuck in the system due to lack of information.

Backlog tracking and flow

Full digitalization of open work orders/contracts. From loading 'floating' interventions (pure backlog) all the way to commitment within the weekly/monthly horizon. Dispatchers oversee the grids, filter them in bulk and clear tasks delivering value based on priority, company Service Level Agreements and the non-negotiable deadlines of worksites or extraordinary maintenance.

### What specifically did you handle in this project?

We brought the partner's wireframes and mockups to life by developing the entire operational frontend. To speed up releases, we initially used mocked data while the backend was still being completed; once the endpoints were ready, we integrated the API calls, turning the interface into a smooth, ready-to-use digital asset.

### Does the dashboard work on mobile devices?

Yes, the entire dashboard is responsive and designed to work on any device with a modern browser. This is a fundamental requirement for professionals working on the move and to guarantee full access to the system.

### How does frontend decoupling work if the backend belongs to an external vendor?

In general, we design and build the entire ecosystem, but sometimes we only need to handle certain parts, for example creating or rewriting a portion (frontend or backend).

Thanks to the architectural pattern, we agree on the ideal API contracts with the server team, mocking the responses in the meantime to speed up UX/UI development. When the backend releases the real endpoint, TypeScript ensures that the application data layer (e.g. in Redux or Context) communicates correctly, handling properties and error cases.

### Is it possible to renew only the frontend of an existing management software?

Absolutely yes, and it's exactly the _decoupled_ (or Headless) approach we adopted for this project. In practice, many companies have robust backends but outdated interfaces that slow down operations. By developing a modern frontend, we can 'hook' via API into any pre-existing system. This cuts the costs of a total rebuild, reduces technological risk and lets you launch a modern, high-performance User Experience quickly, extending the lifecycle of the company software.

### Is a dashboard structured like this ready to integrate Artificial Intelligence or Advanced Automation logic?

This is where our nature as a system integrator and technology partner emerges. Although in this project we worked vertically on frontend development, for other projects we have integrated from the very start not simple chatbots but real AI assistants.
